What type of therapy do you practice?
The type of therapy I practice is Person-Centred and experiential psychotherapy. This is based on the work of Carl Rogers whose body of work recognised the importance of certain human qualities. Rogers believed it is inherent within all of us to grow and expand what it means to be us, to evolve to be the best version of ourselves possible, but that this natural tendency can be thwarted in adverse conditions (such as living in relationships which no longer work, or dealing with historic abuse). As challenging as this may sound he also provided much research which demonstrated that given the right conditions we are able to make the changes we seek. I will not tell you what you ought to do, but we will work together to find your own unique solution to your problems.
Where do you practice?
I work in a quiet, residential area in Sherwood, Nottingham. There is free parking directly outside. It is a short bus or car ride from Nottingham and within easy reach of Derby, Mansfield and the M1. Also, C-19 has challenged us all to work in new ways and my cients and I are finding virtual sessions are very effective.
Who will know about my visit?
Part of being an ethical psychotherapist requires attending for regular supervision. This is about auditing my work to ensure I provide safe, ethical practice and is not about breaking the bond of confidentiality we share. This is an anonymous process and my supervisor will not know who you are.
